The inspiration for this is the 2022 Banned Books Week theme. Participants at library locations and residents at the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center will paint a canvas depicting what censorship means to them. The creations will be combined into a mural that will be on rotating display at MCDL locations. It will take permanent residence in Medina Library’s Teen Department in the spring. This endeavor was made possible through a grant from the Freedom to Read Foundation and is a partnership with the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center and Access the Arts, a local non-profit providing arts education for at-risk populations.
