4 Sensory Support for Families Sensory Kits are available for all ages and needs but are geared toward adults and youth with autism or sensory challenges. These kits include items that facilitate a calming affect for people with sensory issues, such as stress balls, weighted blankets, and noise cancelling headphones. MCDL strives to be a safe, calm place everyone can enjoy. The kits were made possible through funding from Rotary Club of Medina Sunrise and a grant from Autism Speaks. New! A sensory deprivation tent is now available at select events for individuals to use as needed. Staff will announce when the tent is available, and it is open to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Ohio Get a free book mailed to your home every month! But did you know her Imagination Library, founded in 1995, has provided nearly 200 million books to children ages birth to five all around the world? The Imagination Library Ohio is now a state-wide initiative. Families are encouraged to register each child in the household to receive a new, free book every month. Currently, 41% of eligible Medina County families are enrolled in the program. MCDL is spreading the word through day care visits, the Health Department, Catholic Charities, community outreach, and more.
